Stupid Obvious

I don't know about you, but sometimes I really struggle in the whole "faith" thing. I am not good with the unknown or with change. A few months ago Adam got a job offer in Madison, WI. Let me go back a bit to share this story.

Adam and I were in Texas for his best friends wedding. While we were there, a company had called him a couple of times as well as emailed him. They were very interested in interviewing him for a position. Adam wasn't really looking for a new job but he has gotten in the habit of applying for jobs because they sound cool. I don't understand.  Nevertheless, he finally called them back near the last day of our trip. When we arrived back in Portland, we were turning around to go to San Francisco. He had scheduled a phone interview with them during our stay down there. Apparently the interview went great because they flew him out the day after we got back from California for an interview in Madison. He was so excited about this job. I told him that if we are meant to be there that I needed God to make it "stupid obvious" to me. Not more than 3 days later they called with an offer. Hmmm...

Adam has always wanted to come back to the midwest eventually, so this was a wonderful opportunity. I always told him that I don't want to move for less money or benefits than what we currently have unless it was his absolute dream job. Well, their initial offer was for the same salary and essentially the same benefits.  Needless to say I wasn't totally sold yet. So I prayed. And I prayed for God to make it "stupid obvious". Well, we countered with an offer of our own in hopes they would meet us in the middle. They actually accepted our full offer! Hmmmmm....

After accepting the offer we needed to get our house on the market. I started to stress about how I will have to stay home in Portland while Adam moved to Madison without us in order to sell the house. Our dear friend and Realtor Ben really bent over backwards to get our house up on the market as soon as possible. It went up the Friday of Father's Day weekend and by Wednesday of the following week we had not one, but two offers! Hmmmmmmmmm....

We ended up selling for over asking price and didn't have to do any repairs at all! I couldn't believe it! Now all we had left to do was pack up everything and get the heck outta there! Luckily we have some amazing friends who helped pack up our moving trailer. We owe so much to them! I don't think I have any reason to doubt that this is where we are intended to be. Although I probably shouldn't have needed it to be stupid obvious, God answered my prayer...every time.

A much needed list of "thank you's" is in order. Mom and Dad, thank you for all of your continued love and support and for allowing me and Oliver to live at your house for a week before heading out to the midwest. Thank you Gary for taking the time to fly out here, help pack and make the drive with Adam across the country. Julie and Gary, thank you for helping us unload when we got here and allowing us to store our life in your shop until we get a house. Nick, Isaac, Ben, Chad, and David thank you for helping unload our house and pack it into the moving trailer. Thanks to your wives for giving you up for a day! Sadie, thank you for the amazing friendship full of love and support. To our friends and church in Hillsboro...thank you for the years of support, encouragement and friendship. We sure do miss you.

Madison, WI...thank you for being home to our little family. We look forward to getting to know you.
